This makes the war not an epic event, but a tragedy that affected so many needlessly. As the muse answers the pleas of the poet, who I can assume is probably Homer, she says, “ this is a women’s war, just as much as it is the men’s,” and this story demonstrates this in every chapter. The guide in this story is the muse of epic poetry, Calliope, we are given an interesting and new perspective of the Trojan War that has scarcely been explored. Recommended Reading: Book Review: Daisy Jones and The Six We all have heard of the Trojan War – Paris steals Helen of Troy beginning a long and bloody conflict. After reading her book, Pandora’s Jar, I was more than excited to read and she did not disappoint. Natalie Haynes’ retelling of the Trojan War was attractive to me based on the description – a retelling from the view of the women.
